Project Description

The B-LiFE System

B-LiFE provides a unique plug and play feature and is fully equipped with all necessary instruments and biosafety materials to support COVID-19 testing while ensuring the safety of the patients and workforce.
  • Box-based, can be easily deployed anywhere, nearby the crisis area or on the user site.

  • can be relocated quickly in other crisis areas or user sites.

  • self contained laboratory for analysis, reporting and management of information.

  • can be adapted for a wide range of biological pathogenic agents and medical tests, testing strategy can be designed to user requirements, interoperable with user health information systems.

World Class Facilities

Disasters can strike at any time in any corner of the globe for many reasons. Recent healthcare crises like the onset and global spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) have highlighted how easily the medical system’s capacity can be overrun.
GML is collaborating with government agencies, health authorities and other organizations around the world in the fight against COVID-19.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the World Health Organization agree that the frequency and severity of humanitarian emergencies generated as the result of impacts of climate change (such as more severe storms, droughts, wild fires, disease outbreaks, population displacement) will continue to increase unless global carbon emissions are reduced and temperature rise is stabilized.

Recognizing the critical need in settings requiring relief and emergency humanitarian assistance, GML colleagues around the world work collaboratively with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Service Organizations (CSOs), and health care providers (HCPs), to enable prevention and treatment of disease by making analysis and tests available to as many people as possible.

B-LIFE has been deployed in many successful missions, including the Ebola mission in Guinea, from 2014 to 2015, where B-LIFE contributed to end the Ebola epidemics in the forest region of Guinea.
Request for B-LIFE concept deployments have been made by health authorities to fight the COVID-19 pandemics.
B-LIFE is a ‘step up’ from previous bio labs, using latest processes and recommendations on laboratory biosafety related to the COVID-19 virus, also includes the packaging and shipment requirements for sending specimens to laboratories providing confirmatory testing for COVID-19. We also use advanced satellite technologies to speed up communication between field teams, control centres and remote experts. The enhanced system uses broadband links for data, voice and video so that lab results can be available in real time.
